What Fire Awareness Is

Result of the Ocatillo Fire where slurry was dropped, taken by Brian PooreFire Awareness continues to be a big focus in Town, especially following two devastating fires in 2020. All residents and business owners alike are encouraged to take action to ensure their properties are well-tended to throughout the year, to prevent and reduce fires should they happen.

The Town's website offers information, resources, and tools on how to prepare your property to prevent fires from occurring and spreading. We encourage everyone to Be Prepared, Know What to Do, and Help your Neighbors.

  • Perform fire safety inspections in commercial buildings throughout the town
  • Establish the current fire danger rating system for the community
  • Process annual permits (including but not limited to those related to fireworks displays and pyrotechnics)
  • Enforce the Town's fire codes as they pertain to fire related matters such as alarms and fire-sprinkler systems.
